BURNING CONDORS - Dirty girl blues (rock&blues rascado)

En vez de presentar una canción o disco clásico de un grupo consagrado, hoy voy a presentar a un nuevo grupo inglés que me ha gustado. Se llama Burning Condors, y sus integrantes son Marcus ‘Tommy’ Thompson (voz), Matthew Edun (guitarra y coros), Churchy (bajo y coros) y Jimmy Bourne (batería y percusión). Llevan juntos desde finales de 2009, y acaban de sacar un single que merece la pena escuchar.

Dirty girl blues es una canción potente que sirve muy bien como declaración de intenciones. Es difícil de etiquetar, porque se nota un poquito de blues y un poquito de rock, pero se queda todo por detrás de unas guitarras muy afiladas que rascan el ambiente como cuchillos en un pastel. Si los tuviera que comparar con alguien, el primer nombre que me viene a la cabeza es Queens Of The Stone Age. Salvando las distancias, porque Burning Condors aún no llegan al mismo nivel instrumental, la energía que desprenden es similar.

El videoclip no es nada especial pero cumple su función (que tampoco están las cosas como para tirar el dinero en videoclips). Lo que sí me gusta mucho es la portada del single, con un dibujo de gran nivel. Parece que el grupo colabora con artistas gráficos de Londres, y eso explicaría la calidad de la portada.

Ya han tocado en un montón de salas de Londres, y este otoño harán una pequeña gira por Inglaterra, España, Portugal y Holanda. Y lo más importante, en unas semanas publicarán su primer disco completo, que se titulará Round Our Way y ojalá siga la senda de este single. Mientras tanto, nos quedamos con este "blues de la guarrilla" ;)
